With product launches planned and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) identified and agreeing to be part of a brand new and exciting world, the arrival of COVID-19 was like a hammer on a fragile nail. The term social distancing and furlough was not in the marketing plan submitted in November 2019, neither was ‘working from home’, greeted with such enthusiasm by employers as it is now. A new chapter in the commercial world has blindsided us, and the future that was so well planned and enumerated, became confused and uncertain; goals pushed out to Q4.2020 or even Q1.2021. Who knows whether budgets will be met, and reputations saved.

What is the answer to this new normal? How will commerce survive in this new commercial matrix? In our case, we decided to chart a new course and take control of our own destiny, as the poet Virgil once said 'Fortume favours the Brave'. The decision was made in a moment to be ‘born in the middle of a pandemic’. That is how 'Jarrett MedTech Consultants' moved from being a flickering concept, and in March 2020 it was born global and drew its first breath.

It was Plato who said 'Necessity is the mother of invention', so now it is time to learn from the past, take control of the present, and shape the future, starting with reinventing ourselves and our approach. For me in the best years of my life, it is an exciting prospect, with three decades of MedTech experience in sales, product management, strategic marketing, clinical trial investigation, distributor management, and much more, its time set sail towards a new adventure.
